Flechtdorf and Geismar composting plants

For years, organic waste as well as tree and branch cuttings have been processed in the district's own composting plants in Flechtdorf and Geismar. This regularly produces large quantities of reusable compost and wood chips for energy generation. The composting plants are operated by BBL Biomasse und Brennstofflogistik GmbH.

Not only the organic waste from the weekly municipal collection goes here. Citizens of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district also have the opportunity to dispose of their organic waste or tree and branch cuttings here, both privately and commercially. The composting period of the waste in the composting plants is 3 months. By regularly moving the heaps and continuously sorting out impurities, a high-quality result of the compost can be achieved.

The so-called BIO refuse bags do not belong in the organic waste, as they require a much longer rotting time than is possible in the composting plants. Plastic, paper bags, cat litter, animal cadavers or animal waste also do not belong in organic waste. Optimal waste separation can reduce contaminants, increase economic efficiency and protect the environment.

Note: Compost, potting soil, bark mulch and other products can be purchased directly from BBL-Maschinenenring.
