District council provides information on perennial HALM flowering areas
In glorious late-summer weather, the Rural Affairs Department of the Waldeck-Frankenberg district recently organised an expert field visit. The event focused on three perennial flowering areas formed as part of the Hessian Agri-Environmental and Landscape Conservation Measures (HALM 2) in the Frankenberg-Geismar and Schreufa districts.
Numerous farmers, applicants and members of the public with an interest in nature took the opportunity to find out more first-hand on site. The site visit was led by Carola Daume, a HALM case officer at the district authority, and Rainer Even, a crop production adviser at the Hessian State Agricultural Agency (LLH). A lively and constructive discussion took place, drawing directly on the practical example of the flowering areas visited. The discussions centred on key crop production and administrative issues, including optimal soil preparation, modern sowing techniques and the appropriate times for necessary maintenance measures.
The Rural Areas Specialist Service gave a positive assessment of the event: direct dialogue in the field demonstrated how important the transfer of knowledge between the administration, advisory services and agricultural practitioners is for ensuring that nature conservation and species protection in the region are managed successfully and sustainably.
