Gourmet evening at the Klostergarten in Frankenberg

Under the slogan ‘Local produce – live, delicious and outdoors’, the Waldeck-Frankenberg District’s Rural Affairs Department invites you to a special culinary evening in the heart of Frankenberg. With the support of Frankenberg Town Council and Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg, the event will take place on Thursday 13 August 2026 from 6.00 pm at the Klostergarten in Frankenberg/E. The official opening will take place at 7.00 pm, led by District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, Mayor of Frankenberg Barbara Eckes and representatives of Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg.

As well as the culinary offerings, you can look forward to a live panel discussion with Fritz Schäfer on the topic of ‘Bringing home to the plate’. Farmers selling directly to the public from the district will present their products and the stories behind them in an authentic manner during a discussion session. You’ll learn first-hand interesting facts about the farms, sustainable farming, artisanal processing and local retail outlets. Presenter Fritz Schäfer will highlight the distinctive flavours of the produce.

After dark, the ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ fire show begins – – a spectacular, professional pirate-themed fire show. The performance captures the atmosphere of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films. An adventurous search for a treasure map begins, in which the audience is actively involved.

On stage, the band ‘Nachtexpress’ – made up of Caro Best and Niklas – will be entertaining the crowd. Not quite a full band – but much more than ‘just’ a DJ. Their music is a eclectic mix ranging from classics to the latest chart hits – the perfect blend of live vocals and club beats.

Robotman Oliver Kessler’s new street performance, ‘Kaleidoscope’, glows in countless colours. At dusk, the square in front of the monastery garden is bathed in a fantastic display of colour.
