Why am I a country doctor in Waldeck-Frankenberg? Actually, it was more by chance. A good friend had offered me the chance to set up a joint practice with him back then. I couldn’t say no. Especially as the area offers the best possible conditions for my family: in Waldeck-Frankenberg, I can count on safety and security for my children. Country living with a central location in Germany – it really is ideal. In 2006, my colleague Shahin Cyrus took over the vacancy in my joint practice. He, too, was delighted by the warm welcome and friendly openness he received in the region. We enjoy working together and feel completely at home here with our families.

: Patients who are grateful and satisfied In our role as GPs, we encounter many different patients facing health challenges. From a medical perspective, this makes for a great deal of variety. We find our work very rewarding because we receive so much warmth and kindness from our patients. Seeing the satisfaction in their eyes is incredibly rewarding. Alongside our professional goals, it’s also lovely to have time for our families and friends. We manage to fit in leisure activities well alongside our work. For my part, I go jogging several times a week – it offers me a good balance to the day-to-day routine at the surgery.

About the individuals:
Dr Bernardo Fritzsche, MD, is a specialist in general practice and palliative care, and a non-fiction author. He studied in Sucre (Bolivia), obtained his doctorate in Marburg, is married and the father of three children.

Shahin Cyrus is a specialist in general practice and emergency medicine. He studied in Göttingen and is the father of two children.
