Burgberg Tunnel

Description

E-card holders are entitled to free admission on guided tours during opening hours. Please note the visiting season.
Our mine is situated on the slopes of the Burgberg, in the heart of the town of Battenberg. Battenberg is located in the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg (Hesse) in the Ederbergland region. Pyrite was mined in Battenberg in the 19th century. Our mine contains a pyrite vein that has been rediscovered in recent years. The mine is open from May to September on the first Sunday of every month from 2 pm to 5 pm. The last guided tour starts at 4.30 pm. In addition to regular visiting days, we offer special guided tours by arrangement. A highlight for children are the ‘work sessions’, which can be booked. Do also visit our duck pond. The nearby barbecue hut is also available by arrangement for celebrations and events. These facilities are managed by the Battenberg (Eder) Local History and Cultural Association (Heimat- und Kulturverein Battenberg (Eder) e.V.).
