Friedrichstein Castle in Bad Wildungen
Description
E-Card holders receive a €1 discount on admission to the museum.
From castle to museum: over the course of more than 900 years, Friedrichstein Castle in Bad Wildungen has undergone many changes. Today, it houses impressive exhibitions: the Hessian Military History Collection features weapons, uniforms, medals and paintings from the 16th to the 19th centuries. Many of the objects were visually striking status symbols. The so-called ‘Turcica’ are also significant: these military artefacts from the Ottoman Empire were acquired by the Landgraves of Hesse-Kassel as spoils of war, as gifts or through purchase. The showpiece is a richly decorated audience tent. A new permanent exhibition showcases the palace rooms in the Empire style. The exquisite furniture from the early 19th century originates from Wilhelmshöhe Palace and the Kassel Residential Palace on Friedrichsplatz. These are complemented by clothing, ceramics and paintings. Visits to the palace are only possible on the half-hour as part of a guided tour. Please note the seasonal opening hours. Hessen Kassel Heritage offers these discounts at all its museum venues.
