Water hygiene
Water hygiene deals with all aspects of drinking water, swimming pool water and bathing water quality and is a central task of the Public Health Service. Hygienically safe water is of elementary importance for the health of the population.
Drinking water hygiene
In order to ensure the natural quality of drinking water as a healthy food, high demands are placed on the operators of water supply systems. These are listed in the Drinking Water Ordinance 2001.
Hygiene in bathing waters
During the bathing season, the district's health service regularly monitors the four bathing waters and their bathing sites at Lake Edersee, Lake Ederauensee Teichmann, Lake Diemelsee and Lake Twistesee.
