New summer toboggan run in Willingen: planning permission granted

Green light for the new summer toboggan run in Willingen: First Deputy District Administrator Karl-Friedrich Frese, together with Bernd Berghöfer, Head of the Building Department, recently presented the planning permission for the new ‘Alpine Coaster’ summer toboggan run to Christoph Leyhe, Herbert and Christian Rummel of Gebrüder Rummel GmbH & Co. KG.
All-weather driving
With the new Alpine Coster, the managing directors are introducing another attraction in the municipality of Willingen that visitors can enjoy all year round, whatever the weather. At the handover of the planning permission, First Deputy District Administrator Karl-Friedrich Frese praised the entrepreneurs’ commitment: “Climate change also requires businesses to adopt a different way of thinking. It is important to focus on offerings that are not dependent on the weather and thus enable year-round operation. We, as the district administration, see ourselves as partners who work constructively and collaboratively with businesses through this process, and who can then formally hand over the planning permission in the shortest possible time.”

Rear-end collisions are also prevented by the new ride’s distance monitoring system. The new Alpine Coaster is to be built alongside the existing summer toboggan run at Ritzhagen. It will thus complement the existing range of attractions for families in the tourist resort.

The planning permission was therefore granted within six months. This was due in particular to the nature of the approval process. “As part of our planning permission management process, we discuss in detail, well before the application is submitted, what information the applicants need to provide. Among other things, we discuss conditions relating to nature conservation law so that the project can be adapted to the local legal requirements. This saves applicants the trouble of having to make subsequent amendments to their documentation and significantly speeds up the process,” explains Bernd Berghöfer, Head of the Building Department.
Work on the new toboggan run is set to begin as early as this week. Toboggan enthusiasts can look forward to the new run, which is expected to open from Christmas onwards.
