Year 3 pupils at Höringhausen Primary School receive ESD certificates

Shortly before the Hessian summer holidays, the Year 3 pupils at Höringhausen Primary School experienced one of the highlights of the school year with the presentation of their ESD certificates.

Shortly before the Hessian summer holidays, the Year 3 pupils at Höringhausen Primary School enjoyed a highlight of the school year as it drew to a close. They received official certificates from District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst confirming that they had successfully taken part in the ‘Education for Sustainable Development’ programme. The District Administrator and Claudia Knublauch, Head of the District’s Schools and Education Department, took the opportunity to visit the Year 4 graduation ceremony at Freienhagen Town Hall. With the ESD diploma ‘Clever macht Zukunft’ in their pockets, the third-year pupils from Höringhausen were able to start their summer holidays in particularly high spirits.

When asked what their personal highlights had been during the two years leading up to their graduation, the District Administrator received a clear answer from the children. The ‘Earth in Motion’ project run by the GrenzWelten National Geopark at the end of Year 2 had generated great enthusiasm. As part of this, Geopark staff member Dr Ute Richter visited the school to examine fossils together with the girls and boys. Under Dr Richter’s expert guidance, the children also explored the Korbach Fissure. However, the water quality survey of the Werbe river, carried out in collaboration with the Kellerwald-Edersee Nature Park, was just as well received. Armed with their new knowledge, the girls and boys from Höringhausen Primary School will now certainly commit themselves even more wholeheartedly – yet also quite naturally and enthusiastically – to achieving the sustainability goals.
