Digital parents' evenings in May and June

The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is continuing its series of digital parents' evenings and will once again be offering families valuable support on highly topical parenting issues over the next two months. On a total of three evenings in May and June, experts will shed light on the topics of preventing extremism, supporting children in change processes and dealing with strong feelings such as anger and fear.

"Families today face a variety of challenges. With our digital and free offer, we want to provide parents and guardians with practical knowledge in a direct and uncomplicated way," explains Svenja Lotze, organiser of the parents' evenings from the Schools and Education department. "The topics are deliberately chosen so that they hit the nerve of everyday family life and offer concrete help for at home." The talks always take place at 7.30 pm and are free of charge for all interested parties. Registration is not necessary and participation can take place from the comfort of your own sofa.

The following topics are on the programme in May and June:
19 May: "Extremism: recognise and act"
Extremist groups specifically try to appeal to young people online and offline. The lecture uses specific examples to show current developments in extremist youth culture and provides parents with tools to recognise signs and act appropriately. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for a joint discussion.

2 June: "Accompanying children through change processes"
Whether it's starting nursery, changing schools or new life situations in the family - transitions are often both exciting and unsettling for children. In this talk, speaker Jürgen Breustedt shows how adults can support their children in these sensitive phases in a sensitive, understanding and empowering way.

16 June: "Anxiety and anger, all good?!- Dealing with extreme emotions"
Tantrums or excessive anxiety often push families to their limits. Speakers Silke Krämer and Bettina Egartner explain what lies behind these emotional outbursts and how parents can guide their children safely and supportively through emotional storms - for more serenity in family life.

Participation is simple and possible without prior registration via a video conference link. All access links and other events in the "digital parents' evenings" series can be found here:
