Sport development in Waldeck-Frankenberg is of great importance. The district is constantly working to promote and expand sporting activities in various areas. The goals:
Sport and tourism
- Securing and expanding sporting offers for tourism in the Waldeck-Frankenberg district specifically adapted to municipal, geographical and structural conditions (current project: Nordic Walking Paradise Waldeck-Frankenberg).
- Sport-related support within the framework of marketing measures to promote tourism
Sport and health
- Expansion of preventive and rehabilitative sporting activities through cooperation with schools, clubs, doctors and companies
- Establishment of the district working group "Health and Physical Activity
Sporting events/ major sporting events
- Supporting/initiating activities at events/ major sporting events
- Help with sponsorship and marketing measures
Sport and experiential education
- Combination of movement and problem-solving thinking with regard to development of social competence/ self-awareness/ motivation
- Cooperation with schools, clubs, professional associations
- Initiation of the "My team - one team" campaign
Recreational sports/ mass sports/ trend sports
- Promoting new developments in sport such as inline skating, Nordic walking, climbing, etc.
- Communication of the safety-relevant problems
- Collection of statistics for the targeted further development of the respective sub-area
Integration/ prevention through sport
- Integration of repatriates/migrants into social structures through sport
- Cooperation with the State Sports Federation of Hesse, the professional associations, schools and municipalities
All-day school - Sport(club)
- Cooperation between school, sports department, clubs, sports circles for the integration of afternoon sports activities or existing club activities
