Who do I need to contact?
The municipalities are also responsible for federal, state and district roads within the local through-roads (§ 17 Hessisches Straßengesetz - HStrG -, § 4 para. 1 Bundesfernstraßengesetz - FStrG).
Outside the local through-roads, the field offices of Hessen Mobil are responsible. For reasons of administrative simplification, no separate approval is required from the responsible road construction authority in cases where a permit for excessive road use or an exemption is required according to the provisions of road traffic law (cf. § 16 para. 7 HStrG, § 8 para. 6 FStrG).
The approval is granted by the road traffic authority with the involvement of the police, the civil engineering office and, if necessary, other offices.
