Tasks under the Fertiliser Act

  • Performance specification

The Fertiliser Act and the ordinances issued on the basis of this Act regulate the application and marketing of fertilisers.

According to the Fertiliser Act, fertilisers may only be applied in accordance with good professional practice. The type, quantity and time of fertilisation must be geared to the needs of the plant and the soil, taking into account the nutrients and organic matter available in the soil as well as the site and cultivation conditions.

The Ordinance on the Placing on the Market and Transport of Farm Animal Fertilisers (Waste Shipment Ordinance) records the nutrient flows that occur when trading in farm animal fertilisers.

    • Fertiliser Ordinance:
The rules for the application of fertilisers are specified by the Fertiliser Ordinance (Ordinance on Good Fertiliser Practice).
    • Material Flow Balance Ordinance:
The aim of the material flow balance is to map nutrient flows within agricultural holdings in a transparent and verifiable manner.
    • Ordinance on the Movement of Farm Animal Fertilisers (Wirtschaftsdünger-Verbringungsverordnung):
The Ordinance on the Placing on the Market and Transport of Farm Animal Fertilisers (Verbringungsverordnung - WDüngV) records the nutrient flows between farms that occur when trading in farm animal fertilisers.
    • Fertiliser Ordinance:
The Fertiliser Ordinance defines the requirements for the composition, quality and labelling of fertilisers, soil additives, growing media and plant aids. These regulations are directed at manufacturers, importers, traders and any business that places such substances on the market. Compliance with these requirements is monitored within the framework of the official fertiliser traffic control (DVK).
