Performance specification
If young people aged 14 - 17 or adolescents aged 18 - 20 have come into conflict with the law, they and their parents can turn to the youth court assistance service.
Youth court assistance is one of the statutory tasks of the Youth Specialist Service and is provided by educational specialists.We advise and support young people and their families before, during and after criminal proceedings.
The juvenile court assistance does not belong to the investigating authorities like the police and the public prosecutor's office and also does not assume a lawyer's function.
The primary task of juvenile court assistance is to bring the personal situation of the young person into the juvenile court proceedings and to develop proposals for possible sanctions that are intended to have an educational and preventive effect on the accused.
Tasks of juvenile court assistance:
The diverse tasks of juvenile court assistance include in particular:
Information and counselling- about the course of the juvenile court proceedings,
- the possible consequences of the offence,
- Data protection and protection of legitimate expectations,
- various assistance services according to the Child and Youth Welfare Act,
- with problems and difficulties in
- School, work and training,
- Family and housing,
- Leisure time and
- Debts;
Reporting to the public prosecutor's office and the juvenile court (in each case taking into account proportionality) in written form on
- the personal life story and life situation,
- Future prospects,
- Backgrounds of the offences,
- Youth welfare measures;
Support
- of the young person and their families during the juvenile court proceedings,
- of the juvenile court in the decision-making process;
Support
- in pre-trial detention and during criminal detention;
Mediation and accompaniment of
- Youth welfare measures, such as outpatient educational assistance and supervised living.
