Merger with KWF now legally complete
With the merger’s entry in the commercial register, the amalgamation of Frankenberg District Hospital and Korbach Municipal Hospital to form the joint Waldeck-Frankenberg Hospital (KWF for short) has now been legally finalised. Two hospitals steeped in tradition have come together to form a single hospital group with two sites.
“People are always at the heart of KWF – 18,000 in-patient and 32,000 out-patient patients, their relatives, and the approximately 1,300 staff members who shape the hospital every day with professional expertise, dedication and compassion,” explains District Administrator and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Jürgen van der Horst. “They all make the Waldeck-Frankenberg Hospital what it is: a hospital across two sites, underpinned by shared values and a shared understanding of modern healthcare.”
The legal implementation will be preceded by an intensive merger process, which will continue to be shaped by the political bodies of the district and the town of Korbach, as well as by the management and staff of both organisations. The aim from the outset is to secure healthcare provision in the region on a sustainable basis, to strengthen both sites and to lay the foundations for sustainable medical care in the local area.
Anne Bülling and Sassan Pur, the managing directors of Waldeck-Frankenberg Hospital, explain that this shared journey also brings with it a new, shared identity: “With the new logo, we are showcasing what has grown together over the past few months. The two hearts represent our two sites, each contributing their respective strengths to become even more effective together. At the same time, they symbolise the very heart of our work: the people who place their trust in us, and the staff who bring this hospital to life every day. Our new logo is therefore far more than just a graphic symbol – it stands for solidarity, trust, care and our shared responsibility for healthcare provision in Waldeck-Frankenberg.”
At the centre of the new hospital logo are two stylised heart shapes. They symbolise the two sites, Korbach and Frankenberg – each hospital with its own history, established structures and particular strengths. At the same time, they represent the visible process of growing together to form a single hospital. Stefan Kieweg, Mayor and former Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Korbach Hospital, adds: “The merger combines the expertise and experience of both hospitals and lays the foundations for strengthening medical care in the district in the long term and developing it in a way that is fit for the future. The new logo makes it clear: the merger is complete; now our shared journey as the Waldeck-Frankenberg Hospital begins.”
With the legal merger, the formal foundations have now been laid for the two sites to grow together. The focus over the coming months will be on the ongoing integration of the teams and processes at both sites. The phased roll-out of the new, shared brand identity will accompany this process and make it visible to the outside world.
