What is CITY CYCLING?

Since 2022, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg - and all of its towns and municipalities - has been taking part in the international CITY CYCLING campaign organised by the Climate Alliance. In this way, everyone in Waldeck-Frankenberg can do something good for the environment by entering all the kilometres they cycle into the competition during the campaign period. For 21 days, they should cycle as many kilometres as possible in a climate-friendly way - and "cycle" as many kilometres as possible. Each kilometre cycled will be counted individually. There are great prizes to be won. The aim of the CITY CYCLING campaign is to promote more cycling, more climate protection and more quality of life in the municipalities - and ultimately to make cycling more fun.

How can I take part?

If you would like to take part, you can register at https://www.stadtradeln.de/registrieren or download the CITY CYCLING app and follow the registration instructions there. There you can join an existing team from the city or municipality or set up a new team. "You can't cycle without a team, because climate protection and cycling promotion are teamwork - but even two people are a team! For example, there are teams made up of families, friends or colleagues. If you can't find a suitable team and don't want to set up your own, you can also join the "open team" that exists in every municipality.

As soon as you have registered and the cycling period begins in your municipality, you can get started. You cycle as many routes as possible over 21 days (and beyond, of course) and collect journeys and cycle kilometres - either via the CITY CYCLING app or in your browser.

CITY CYCLING 2026

From 4 to 24 June, cycling enthusiasts from all towns and municipalities and under the umbrella of the district can once again put their pedals to the metal - and cover as many kilometres as possible by bike. Anyone can take part. Be it on the way to training or work, for shopping or in your free time in Waldeck-Frankenberg's beautiful natural landscape - every kilometre counts in the competition.

Kick-off event

On 4 June 2026, a kick-off event will take place in Frankenberg at the Georgenberg Monastery in Frankenberg. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., there will be the opportunity to take part in a near-mobile city rally - on foot or by bike. There will also be information stands, activities and the opportunity to eat or drink something at the monastery.
