Starting signal for CITY CYCLING on 4 June in Frankenberg
The district of Waldeck-Frankenberg is once again taking part in the nationwide CITY CYCLING campaign this year. From 4 to 24 June, all citizens are called upon to cycle as many everyday journeys as possible in a climate-friendly way and collect kilometres for their team. We are particularly pleased that all towns and municipalities in the district are once again taking part this year and supporting the campaign.
Official kick-off on 4 June
The CITY CYCLING season opens at 10 a.m. at the Georgenberg Monastery in Frankenberg. Anyone interested is cordially invited to cycle their first kilometres and take part in the star ride from Hatzfeld to Frankenberg. "City cycling is more than just a competition for kilometres: It is a clear commitment to climate protection, healthy mobility and places worth living in," emphasises First District Councillor Karl-Friedrich Frese. "I cordially invite all citizens of our district to join in, cycle along and set a strong example for a sustainable future together."
Colourful programme for the whole family
From a city rally to activities and delicious food: Together, the district administration and the town of Frankenberg have put together a colourful programme for young and old. "The planned town rally invites you to discover our town of Frankenberg from a different perspective - by bike or on foot, individually. There are also many other offers and helpful information on the topics of cycling and local mobility. Even the police from Bad Wildungen will be on site and offer to code visitors' bikes and e-scooters," explains Mayor Barbara Eckes. Anyone wishing to take advantage of the police's offer and protect their vehicle from theft is asked to register in advance for coding by calling 05621 7090-35.
It's easy to take part: every kilometre counts
Every kilometre cycled counts in CITY CYCLING - for the team, the municipality and the climate. Anyone interested can register online at www.stadtradeln.de, set up their own team or join an existing team. Anyone who lives, works, attends school or is a member of a club in Waldeck-Frankenberg can take part. The kilometres cycled are simply documented via the CITY CYCLING app or online and contribute directly to improving the carbon footprint of your own place of residence. As an additional incentive, the teams with the most kilometres will be awarded a prize by the district at an award ceremony. However, the focus is on the fun of exercise, your own health and the protection of our environment.
Further information
The star ride to kick off the CITY CYCLING event will take place whatever the weather. Participation is at your own risk - all bikes must be equipped in accordance with the road traffic licensing regulations and each participant must wear a helmet.
