Employment

Getting started made easy, working across disciplines
For young doctors, starting their careers without financial risk is often a priority – which means setting up their own practice is not an immediate option. In this respect, the employment model offers the best conditions.

Enjoy the benefits of being a rural doctor without the financial strain. Working within an established team alongside experienced colleagues provides a solid foundation from which you can benefit in your career development. Tailor your working environment to suit your personal circumstances and make the most of the various options available when working in a medical care centre (MVZ) or a private practice. This will allow you to gradually settle into the role of a GP. For those returning to the profession, a post also offers the chance to shape your career future at your own pace. In medical care centres (MVZs) in particular, you’ll work across disciplines within a large network and engage in direct dialogue with your colleagues. The structured integration of specialist disciplines and the use of a shared infrastructure enable patient-centred care – with short lines of communication. There are currently two medical care centres in Waldeck-Frankenberg where you can work as a GP or as a specialist, either as a salaried doctor or in private practice.

Full-time or part-time: As an employee, you can choose between full-time and part-time work – these employment models offer a convenient solution, particularly for parents, to strike a good balance between family and work. There is a wide range of working time arrangements available, which can be tailored to your individual circumstances.

Parental leave: Young doctors, in particular, usually want both: to have a successful career and to start a family. The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians in Hesse offers parental leave schemes tailored to the needs of young parents. Doctors in private practice can arrange for a locum to cover their practice for up to three years following the birth of a child, without losing their licence to practise.
