Gourmet evening on 13 August in the Frankenberg monastery garden

Under the slogan ‘Local produce – live, delicious and outdoors’, the district of Waldeck-Frankenberg, together with its Rural Affairs Department, invites you to a special culinary evening in Frankenberg. Supported by the town of Frankenberg and Sparkasse Waldeck-Frankenberg, the event will begin on Thursday, 13 August 2026, at 6 pm at the Klostergarten in Philipp-Soldan-Stadt. The gourmet evening will be officially opened at 7 pm by District Administrator Jürgen van der Horst, together with Mayor Barbara Eckes and a representative from the Sparkasse.

As well as the culinary offerings, the programme includes a live panel discussion on the theme of ‘Bringing home to the table’. Farmers selling directly to the public from the district will be presenting their products authentically and sharing the stories behind them. Those interested will learn first-hand about the farms, sustainable farming practices, artisanal processing and local outlets. Presenter Fritz Schäfer will highlight the distinctive flavours of the produce.

Once darkness has fallen, ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ – loosely based on ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ – kicks off a spectacular, professional pirate-themed fire show. The audience is interactively drawn into the adventurous search for a treasure map. Musical entertainment is provided by the band ‘Nachtexpress’ – Caro Best and Niklas Liese – with their eclectic mix ranging from oldies to the latest chart hits. The walk-around act “Kaleidoskop”, featuring Robotman Oliver Kessler, also transforms the square in front of the monastery garden into a fantastical display of colours at dusk.
